One of the things that I really love about living in Sardinia is the possibility to buy fresh local raw products. Here you still find those small shops and markets with vegetables from the family farm, cheese made by the owner of the cheese shop, meat from the local breeders and cut by the butcher in the meat shop, and fish fished in the sea beneath the village. Something that's getting real rare in Sweden unfortunately...

I have the opportunity to have a friend that works as a fisherman in nearby Marceddi. Sometimes we're lucky to be invited for wonderful lunches at the harbor with fish and seafood picked up the same morning! Can life be better?? At the moment in Marceddi, which is a lagoon they mostly fish crabs, shrimps, octopus, and sea bass.

Unfortunately, life as a fisherman is getting harder also in Sardinia. My friend Davide has to travel the 90 km to the Cagliari fish market every day to leave his fish at an auctioneer because the local union pays to little...
